Torrington Savings Bank to Commemorate 150 Years of Business
In June 2018, Torrington Savings Bank will celebrate a century-and-a-half in business. The bank, originally chartered as Wolcottville Savings Bank, was founded by several local business leaders in 1868, with the goal of making investment opportunities accessible to an economically-varied population. Since then, the bank has grown and expanded with the city, moving from a shared space in the Granite Building to its current Main Office location in 1938.
Today, Torrington Savings Bank boasts seven locations in northwest Connecticut, including three locations in Torrington.
President and CEO, John Janco, said, “As CEO during this historic moment, I take great pride in the bank today and its long, successful history. Torrington Savings Bank has been committed to evolving and changing to meet the financial needs of our customers and our communities. Our 150 year history reflects our commitment to excellence. We look forward to continued success as Torrington Savings Bank for many years to come.”
Celebratory events will be held throughout the year in observance of the sesquicentennial anniversary.
